Every time you talk about how much you hate your ex-girlfriend in front of a room full of strangers and friends, I can't help but think to myself: "Who does this machismo serve? And is your personal catharsis worth all of the alienation?" As if the dominant culture wouldn't have indoctrinated whiny boys to become woman haters, you refrain from critical thought while parroting chauvinism, apathetic to your own message. You've become the misogynistic nerd. You need to get over it. No one wants to listen to your idiotic song that normalizes hating women! You've got to work to unlearn this disgusting bias you feel you've earned.

about

Jackass is a middle finger to bros that devote countless hours writing, practicing, and honing their craft only to create bigoted songs that reinforce the patriarchy in spaces that should serve as an alternative to the dominant culture. Countless times have I witnessed jackasses get up in front of a microphone only to spew hateful rhetoric about women while feeling that they have earned the right to be a bit due to they have been "emotionally maimed" by someone that they have decided occupies a lower social class than them--how dare they be harmed by someone "less than them"

Songs and musicians like these have existed for decades. As these ideas continue to perpetuate through the generation of new songs carrying the hateful message, the next generation is only more prone to create them.
The aim of writing a song like Jackass is to call out the behavior but also to hopefully make more people consider how their art can continuous impact future generations of music makers.
